If you've already guessed that I am a designer then I salute the genius in you. Yes, I am a designer and an Interaction Designer in particular. At the core, I am just a curious soul, almost always amazed and in awe of brilliance scattered in this world. And I would consider myself successful if someday someone would say that my work contributed to that brilliance in whatever way possible. Meanwhile, I am having fun doing my work and appreciate the creative release in any case.
The two quotes at the top from genius Charles Eames are what I call spiritual foundation to any design opportunity I work on. I believe that a technology or a technology solution should not be merely based on some narrowly defined business and bottom-line objectives only but rather it should be a rich appreciation of people and their activities in context. I believe, the field of Design can guide us in laying down concrete principles to guide our own use of technology which would be to serve the masses within a framework supporting the individual, social and cultural needs.
Over my career, I have been part of a wide range of consulting and research projects focused on identifying and delivering solutions that meet or exceed client and end-user expectations. Currently, I am a Senior User Experience Consultant with UX Competency Group of Perficient, Inc, where I work on full life-cycle user centered design projects with an emphasis on Interaction Design.
Typical work responsibilities involve requirements gathering, requirements analysis, conceptual designing, low-to-Hi fidelity prototyping, and usability testing. Given the nature of consulting work, sometimes all of the above activities are required for a project and sometimes I am involved in only few of these. Nonetheless, variety keeps me going and loads of learning opportunities keep me sane with an illusion of living a purposeful life... overall, Life is good :-)
About my educational background, I am a graduate of Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA with a Masters of Science in Human Factors (Specialization- Human Computer Interaction). In addition, I hold bachelor degree in Industrial Design (minor - Communication Design) from Department of Design at Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati (INDIA), the place which inculcated the interest and respect for design in me and where I learned so much more than I could appreciate at that time. Thank god I am getting wiser with time...or so I think ;-)
